cTc - contemporary Textile creations
An exhibition of works that explore and combine familiar textiles and techniques, yarns, threads, fibres, patterns, textures, colour and design in expressive and unexpected combinations to create interesting and challenging textile based art works.
12 – 30 March 2010
East Gippsland Art Gallery, Bairnsdale
Artists and crafts people working with textiles and fibres are invited to participate in this exciting exhibition.
Textiles are a part of every person’s everyday experience and as an expressive media they are often overlooked but the use of textiles and threads in the creation of both decorative and functional items and garments has undergone something of a transformation over the last few years with the introduction and availability of new materials and yarns.
“contemporary Textile creations” will provide those interested in textiles with an opportunity to create interesting and challenging textile based art works that explore both familiar and new materials and techniques. Finished items for the exhibition should demonstrate the use of design and unexpected combinations of texture, fabric, yarn or fibre and colour to create interesting and challenging pieces.
“contemporary Textile creations” will be a curated exhibition and those interested in participating should contact the East Gippsland Art Gallery for details and a participation form or download the information.
