EGAG WRAP 2018 is proudly sponsored by Simon Anderson Consultants Bairnsdale
Above: Winner of EGAG WRAP 2019 small artwork prize: Jill Hermans, Fence #45, Shibuichi, brooch pin. 10.5x8cm

Jill Hermans: My practice has grown from the allure of colour; the iridescence and fragility of heat-coloured Shibuichi draws me in, and so the forms I create are all about protection, creating the perfect stage for colour to rest on and be sheltered by.

Commendations went to Patricia Pittman’s drawing Fish, Chris Guthleben for White Crackle Raku Fired Beaker and Kathryn Macdonald for her painting Sunset (below).

Friday afternoon, at the very 11th hour and to everyone’s surprise, a $500 Environment Award for EGAG WRAP 2019 was announced by Carina Turner of Simon Anderson Consultants.
The EGAG WRAP 2019 Environment Award winner was Penny Carruthers, for her delicate drawing titled, Vale, Graphite on paper (below).

All works entered are hung. This buy off-the-wall small works exhibition encourages visitors to purchase Christmas gifts and support a local living artist with 100% of every sale going straight to the creator.

The sponsor, Simon Anderson Consultants is a local Civil and Structural Engineering consultancy based in Bairnsdale, founded in 1992 by Simon on his kitchen table. It is through hard work and determination that the company has grown and is able to give back to our community.
Simon and Carina are thrilled to be sponsoring the EGAG WRAP 2019 prize.

‘Art is such an important part of life, to be creative is such an incredible gift to have and to share. It is through creativity that a community can come alive and we are so excited to be a part of this process.’

This year East Gippsland Art Gallery received 182 entries from around 100 artists from all over Australia. The exhibition was officially opened at Friday night’s special opening event, by Cr Jackson Roberts. The Gallery greeted over 100 people to celebrate this eclectic small art prize that just keeps getting bigger! It was a great event and a fantastic turnout of community support.

“Thanks to all the artists from near and far who sent their work to us, to make EGAG WRAP 2019 such a memorable and fabulous show! Without you, none of this is possible. Big thanks to our generous sponsor Simon Anderson Consultants for getting behind the Gallery’s vision and helping to make this all happen. Big thanks also to Anne Robertson Executive Officer at Public Galleries Association of Victoria for braving the world that is 4 hours beyond Melbourne and travelling all the way to East Gippsland Art Gallery to judge this year’s EGAG WRAP 2019.” said East Gippsland Art Gallery Director, Crystal Stubbs.
