Come into to the Gallery to learn to how to create colourful and beautiful paper stars and contribute to a global campaign to end violence. One Million Stars to End Violence is a love and peace filled community project.
These beautiful stars are symbols of light, courage and solidarity to end all forms of violence, including violence against women, bullying and racism. The One Million Stars project is the brain child of Maryann Talia Pau who began this weaving movement in Brunswick Victoria, in response to the murder of a dear friend. Since 2012, Maryann’s idea has gone global and been embraced by communities in Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, Europe and the USA.
The stars will be displayed in the foyer of the Gallery, the Bairnsdale library and finally sent to the Gold Coast to be displayed as a part of One million Stars during the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
