Moongan and Lit
Ray Thomas and Tirilli Thomas
20 September - 19 October 2019

Special opening event 5.30pm Friday 20 September | All welcome | Free
'Moongan and Lit means father and child in Gunnai language. Sharing this space on Gunnai Wurruk with my youngest son Tirilli has filled me with pride as a Moongan. We dedicate this show to our Raymond Noel Lindsay Thomas, (15-8-1986 - 25-6-2017) one of Tirilli’s older brothers, my middle Lit, whom we tragically lost. Everybody loves Raymond.' - Ray Thomas

Both Tirilli and his father Ray honour their Gunnai ancestors through incorporating and refining the traditional markings and patterns of the original Gunnai Maraaga (sheilds) from the Keeping Place and the Melbourne Museum archives.
