The ACMI staff will be teaching Scratch, a free visual programming language, that is fun and accessible for budding computer scientists. Scratch was developed to help simplify the process of creating and programming animations, games, music, interactive stories and more. Using a system of colour coding for the program's different building blocks, the code becomes like puzzle pieces. Designed especially for ages 8 to 16, it can be used by people of all ages.

These visual programming workshops are part of East Gippsland Art Gallery’s current touring exhibition from ACMI, Code Breakers: Women in Games. This free exhibition transforms East Gippsland Art Gallery into an immersive and interactive game zone. Visitors can get hands-on with an array of playable games – from indie through to commercial hits and new releases – all made by Australian and New Zealand women working in different capacities: as directors, programmers, developers, digital artists, writers, producers and designers.
